Why Translation May Seem So Expensive

Another reason as to why translation service may be more expensive than you thought is due to all labor and man hours that goes into producing a translated document.

Let's take a legal 10 page document for example. Legal documents have its own language that has to be understood and deciphered. A translator has to have appropriate training and education in order to render the correct translation. One pretty much has to hire an attorney to translate a legal document, a bi-lingual attorney, mid you! And we all know how much those guys charge. We won't charge nearly as much but one can see that translation can't be cheap.

Moreover, once the document is translated, it has to be proofread by a separate linguist with the same qualifications as the first one. A proofreader checks terminology, spellings and typos ensuring that the document is publish-ready.

The last step in the process is the Quality Assurance step. During this stage, the document's layout will be checked as well as em and en dashes, unnecessary double spacing, alignment and any other aspects that may take away from the document visually.

So that's an example of translating a legal document. It should give you an idea as to how much work goes into translating such a document and we didn't even mention managers who take your call, assign the project to a translation team, accountants and marketing to ensure that when you need translation you find us and not our competitors.
